Kids Ceramics Class with Kin + Clay Ceramics
Kids + Clay
Our kids pottery workshop opens with a brief introduction and history of ceramic arts. This is a chance for them to play with clay while learning about the entire pottery process.
We’ll begin with Part 1: Slab Work
Everyone will have a slab of clay ready to go with all materials needed to make personalized, handmade name magnets! We will have alphabet cutters for each kid to cut out the letters of their name with their slab and then paint and design each one! We’ll also have different shapes, flowers, and rainbows cutters so they can make two other magnet designs of their choice. Once they are fired, we will attach the magnet backing so they can use each one to hang up their art on your fridge!
As the group creates their clay magnets, Ashley will be available for assistance and Gabbi will bring up one kid at a time for Part 2: Wheel-throwing: Each participant will make their own cup or small bowl on the wheel (with hands on instruction and guidance). They can pick from one of our underglaze colors and paint their piece right on the wheel!
Their creations will be clear glazed, fired in our kiln, and ready for pick up within 4 weeks!
*We cannot guarantee all pieces make it through the lengthy kiln process. The experience is the most important part!
IMPORTANT NOTE: As we will be wheel throwing for this workshop, the ideal age is 8-10 years old but ages 5 and up are welcome. Parents are welcome to stay in the shop and assist their child, or stay in the surrounding area until the class is done.
Only 10 spots are available so we recommend signing up soon!
